Didn't ever make ice, returned!

So excited to finally get it, hooked it up correctly no errors. Ran for 24 Hours but never made ice, so it was returned! Would have been nice in the product description to mention you need to purchase a finished door!

Sleek Look Poor Quality

The nugget ice machine is great when it works. We purchased it for its sleek look and nugget style ice. Sadly, we've had multiple issues with the pump malfunctioning. I've always purchased GE appliances and had amazing results. I feel as though GE doesn't stand behind the high end ice machines. We are one month out of warranty and are paying expensive service fees to get it fixed once again, same issue with the pump. I would not recommend this model to any friends or family. GE missed the mark on this one.

Ice bin drain pump quit working 4 days in.

Nugget ice cubes are great. Quality control of GE products are not desirable, of the 4 Cafe' appliance purchases 3 were shipped and installed either missing parts or defective; drain pump on dishwasher; convection fan not working on double oven, control module defective; ice machine drains pump failed after 4 days.

The fact I had to buy the door separately and 400.00 was so ridiculous! 3000.+ ice machine should have a door covering. The ice is small crushed ice which is nice for my ice eating habit, but it melts fast in drinks.

Great ice machine

Our old ice maker went out and had to replace it. I wanted to go with a cheaper one(since I squeak when I walk), but my wife wanted this one. I am glad we decided on this model. The ice is great and the installation was not hard. Very sturdy and nice model. Refills ice bin quickly when we have heavy use.

Our nugget ice machine is very loud and now the drain pump willl not shut off. I clean it as I should and even use a very high end water filtering system. I do not recommend. I have only had this for about 2 years and currently unplugged out of warranty and several thousands wasted on poor quality machine.

Nugget Ice!

My wife was looking for this kind of ice maker forever (Chik Fil A Ice!). I found it. It works great. It isn't as loud as some folks say. Installation was easy for our installers. You have to buy cleaner and clean it every six months and cleaning is about an hour to two hour chore. The door comes separately and we ordered a panel specially built for ours.

The ice is great...but!

The ice is perfect and deserves a 5 star rating. The water pump however is CRAZY loud annoying. I have this unit in my kitchen where we spend a good amount of time being a family and are constantly being reminded of the units presences. I finally dismantled the unit and insulated the cabinet interior- top,bottom, sides and even the motor with the material. It helped about 70% in reduction. I called the factory and even they say its the biggest complaint. This will not be a problem is you have a gravity drain in your floor, but if you have to use the optional pump kit...be forewarned!

if you are looking for the perfect SONIC ice.... look no more, this is it. my family and I are really into that type of ice, and did our homework looking for the best option out there. this one came ahead and many ways, but I did not stop looking into it until I finally tried this now out... it was amazing from the first minute I turned it on. Don forget to order the panel (door) when you place your order since it does not come with it, and while it is a bit more, you have the option to customize it in any way you need to match your kitchen or bar. Makes Great soft ice

Love the ice this machine makes, small soft nuggets. The machine makes the ice fast, and is quiet. While I give this machine five stars, there are two things to understand if you are interested. You should have a gravity drain, there is a pump option ($500), but if you lose power for an extended period, you have an issue. Make sure your plumber understands how and where to install the drain, and you have access to position the drain if you need to pull the machine out. We ended up putting an access panel in the cabinet next to the ice machine. Second the door is not included. You need to order the right door panel for your install, and additional $300. Know what I know now, I would recommend this ice machine, just know it is not plug and play.

Drain Pump malfunctioned

The drain pump malfunctioned within the first week after installation. GE does not cover that under their warranty because it is considered an "after market" accessory. Keep in mind the drain pump is an additional $700. After arguing with the customer service representative, I was able to speak with their supervisor who offered to send a replacement pump, but I was responsible for the additional labor to have the defective part removed and replaced. Oh, and the ice maker does not include a door panel. That is also an "after market" purchase to be made after purchasing the ice maker.

Best Nugget Ice

This ice maker makes great ice & keeps on top of our high usage esp during the warm summer months. It's also quiet. Ours has the cabinet panel on front & looks great in the kitchen. When friends come over that's one of the first things they want is nugget ice from this machine. We have another ice maker in the refrigerator & this is still the all-time fav.

No exterior stainless steel door

The icemaker itself makes great ice! But the icemaker it self came without an exterior stainless steel door and handle. We were told that we would have to pay extra for the door and handle. Therefore, for now it sits in our Brand new kitchen like this! not a satisfied customer! I would totally have recommended IF I had a door! We have purchase numerous Ge products without a problem until this ice maker.

It makes lots of ice, quickly; and keeps up with production as it is getting used. It was very quiet when first installed, and ran that way for about 6 months; since then it has a whining noise to it and the interior light decides when it wants to come on. Time for a service call.

We have only had this ice maker for 3 weeks but so far we love it. It is much quiter than the Jenn-Aire unit it replaced. I was surprised at how fast it started making ice (less than 5 minutes). The nugget ice is our favorite type.
