I purchased the Profile model to replace our 12 year old Advantium. It has all the features of the much more costly Advantium except for one thing. The reason for the 4 stars is that it has a problem that makes it hard to use. It has no back light for the push buttons. It is hard to see the small print on the buttons and I sometimes have to use a flashlight to help.

We really like our convection/microwave oven. We had the older model of this same oven and just replaced it with this newer model because we were happy with the features. There are many features that it can seem overwhelming at first. Just learn one feature, use it a few times and you'll get used to it. Then learn another and so on. The convection oven works much better than our regular oven so we tend to use it quite often. It bakes evenly so our baked goods turn out nicely. The over the range light is very bright compared to our older model. I can now see a lot better while I'm cooking on the stove. The only real negative, which is not huge, is the font sizes used on the display panel. I think they could have been chosen differently for better readability. But once you are used to where things are, then maybe that won't matter.

The features are all excellent, the power is good, the size is perfect (for us). The negatives are 1-The interface (the dial is like the BMW I-Drive, very unnecessary, requiring extra steps to set things like power level). 2-The materials from which it is built feel flimsy (e.g. the door closes with sounds and overtones that are similar to rattling. My previous GE Profile microwave closed with a reassuring thud until it gave up the ghost. The Fillers GE ships for 36" installation don't quite fit; mine is squeezed in place with a resulting slight bend.

Absolute junk...hasn't worked since day one From day one the turntable has repeatedly paused as it turns to the extent that it will slosh liquid our of a container. GE has replaced the turntable motor twice. Most recently they replaced the circuit board. Now the unit doesn't work at all. I can't even plug it in because a fan comes on as soon as it's plugged in and runs constantly. I started out with a microwave that didn't work correctly. Now I have one that doesn't work at all.

Wattage is at apx 970 vs prior GE Profile which was 1100 watts. This leads to massive cooking changes since this is lower. I have used a microwave since 1970 (!) to cook entire meals through reheating. THIS IS THE WORST MICROWAVE I HAVE EVER HAD IN 50 YEARS! Reheat MAKES you choose Plate, Vegetables. Soup. There is NO WAY to set reheat the way the user wants. Popcorn setting does not work unless use commercial popcorn in bags. Using independent popping system (e.g. Colonel Popper) does not pop more than 4 kernels. Worked perfectly with 1100 W GE Profile. Terrible directions. Looks nice outside.
